The admiration
My dear readers,
Admiration is the feeling, the meeting, the discovery of a thing or a person who has extraordinary qualities in our eyes. Naturally, admiration begins with that of our parents, family members and later that of our friends. But with time we learn to admire something else, someone else who will influence our thoughts, our way of being, the perception of the world around us and help us to forge our personality and become the person we are.
As you already know, I have a special respect for fashion, art and the greatest couturiers. But my admiration for writing and these writers who defend just causes through the skilful use of words is less well known. That why I would like to share it with you today. In particular, my amazement at a woman writer who defended her cause and broke the codes of society to leave an indelible mark on her time: Simone de Beauvoir.
Simone de Beauvoir
Simone de Beauvoir has made a work of art out of her existence. Not only by telling it in these four volumes of Memoirs, but by devoting himself tirelessly to the difficult task of defending his principles, values and opinions, all of which had in common the place of women in society. A cause that I believe is noble to defend and which would never have evolved so much without the commitment, determination and persuasion of his surprisingly modern woman for her time.
I got to know Simone de Beauvoir thanks to my mother who always paid great attention to my education. Teaching me to become a strong, independent and modern woman has always been one of her priorities. It’s therefore naturally that I read several works by this writer who captured me directly not through these intentions but through the persuasion, determination and strength of her words.
In my opinion, Simone de Beauvoir, who died more than 30 years ago, represents the modern woman of today, who can be summed up in this quotation "you are not born a woman, you become one."
