Hergé exhibition at the Grand Palais

The 9th art in all its splendor

Dear readers,

As a child, I spent a lot of time reading. This activity made me escape into another world. In my world. In my mind the stories come to life. I was sometimes an observer and sometimes just a participant. I loved all kinds of reading. Thrillers, novels, comics… All inspired me. I was sometimes in the United States with the book « To Kill a Mockingbird », and sometimes in the Congo with Tintin, Snowy and the captain Hadddock.

I followed the young reporter through his adventures, I was traveling with him, I was parts of its investigations. I accompanied Captain Haddock and Snowy, and together we went to conduct a little investigation around the world : Frankfurt, Prague, New Deli, Kathmandu…

Hergé, an inspired man

Time passed, I grew up and my love for comics too. They have the gift to bring me back to childhook, and to cross the country. A journey through time and space. Until recently, I learned that the Grand Palais organized an exhibition on the work of Hergé. As an unconditional fan of the author, I decided to go there.

Yesterday, I decided to go to the Grand Palais. The exhibition moved me. I remembered those evenings when, near the fireplace, I leafed through my comics. Lying on the carpet of my family home, my mind was somewhere else. I remember those afternoons when I was travelling the seas with my heroes, when we were climbing the mountains to solve our investigation… I learned so much about the other work of Hergé. I rediscovered « Quick and Flupke », I learned a lot about « The adventures of Jo, Zette and Jocko ». My mind blossomed in the gallery, I found myself even to travel with the heroes.

Leaving the Grand Palais, I really need a return in childhood, to get away.  At the Hotel Le Tourville I found a reassuring place which cradle me, which strengthens me. Installed in my room, I was reading a comic book "Tintin and the Crab with the Golden Claws". Once I finished my reading, I closed my eyes, thinking of Novalis, who once spoke in these terms: "Where is the golden age is childhood."

See you soon !
